The 2017 Canadian International Autoshow Breaks Records
Posted on August 13, 2020
Few things get the team atĀ Caledon ChryslerĀ more excited than a goodĀ car show. As we mentioned last month, the Toronto area doesn't just get a good show every year, it gets theĀ amazing Canadian International Auto Show! We were confident that the 2017 Canadian International Auto Show would be the best and most popular instalment of this annual automotive extravaganza ever, and we were not disappointed. Let's take a closer look at all theĀ highlights from this year's show.
Big Crowds
To put it mildly, theĀ 2017 Canadian International Auto ShowĀ was packed. Over the 10-day run of the show, a record 339,590 people visited theĀ Metro Toronto Convention Centre, to check out the $100 million worth of vehicles spread outĀ over 650,000 square feet of convention space. To put it into perspective, this year's attendance beat the previous record from last year's event by nearly 20,000 attendees. That's roughly two days worth of attendance so, you can image that it was busy. For Jason Campbell, the GM of the Canadian International AutoShow, the success was in part because the organisers, "ā¦worked hard to create a show that not only showcases the latest vehicles and trends in the industry but also celebrates what we call a Total Automotive Experience."
Kudos for FCA
While there as plenty of competition from the vast array of new and classic cars on display, theĀ FCA vehicles we offer at Caledon Chrysler, did a great job impressing some of the biggest names in the automotive press. Matt Bubbers, who writes about cars for theĀ Globe and Mail, picked out hisĀ five most interesting cars to see at the show, and we were pleased to that he included one of our favourites, theĀ 2017 Jeep Compass. The experts over at Auto123.com got into the act by including theĀ 2018 Dodge Durango SRTĀ in itsĀ Toronto 2017: 10 of the best new SUVsĀ on display list.
Show Favorites
While it is great that the press loved the show and FCA's offerings, we also wanted to share our favourites from the 2017 Canadian International Auto Show. TheĀ tech-heads at Caledon ChryslerĀ were happy to see that our friends at Chrysler did a great job playing up the benefits of theĀ innovative Uconnect system, which can be found on theĀ 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. Perhaps the most exciting part of the show was watching Justin Blemur of North York win a $113,000 2017 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat. This fantasticĀ FCA muscle carĀ was awarded during the Prostate Cancer Canada Rock the Road Raffle and was donated by one of our favourite organisations, theĀ Trillium Automobile Dealers Association.
When you combine theĀ record-breaking attendance and all the exciting,Ā entertaining, and educational events, the 2017 Canadian International AutoShow, everyone atĀ Caledon ChryslerĀ think it was an astounding success. If you missed out this year, don't worry, theĀ 2018 Canadian International AutoShow will run from February 16-25Ā and should be an even bigger blast.
