At Caledon Chrysler, customer satisfaction is our #1 goal, so we know that finding the right SUV that fulfills all your needs can be difficult. It's for that reason that we only sell SUVs that we believe in 100%. Of course, we also try to stay up-to-date on our competition, that's why we thought we would compare our 2017 Jeep Patriot with the 2017 Mazda CX-5. Let's take a closer look at these two SUVs.
2017 Jeep Patriot
The rugged but efficient 2017 Jeep Patriot comes in four trim levels, Sport, Sport SE, Latitude, and High Altitude. The seven sporty exterior colors give the Jeep Patriot a unique look and sporty style. Drivers can expect a standard 2.0-litre I-4 engine that produces 158 horsepower at 6,400 rpm and 141 lb.-ft. of torque at 5,000 rpm. On some of the higher trim levels, you can step up to four-wheel drive and a 2.4-litre I-4 16 valve dual VVT engine, which puts out 172 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 165 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,400 rpm. To keep you in full control, you can choose from a five-speed manual transmission, six-speed AutoStick automatic transmission, or a Trail Rated CVT II with Off Road Crawl Ratio, that gives you up to 10.3 L/100 km city and 7.9 L/100 km highway in fuel efficiency.* Other performance features that have us excited include ABS braking system with brake assist (BA), 17-inch polished aluminum wheels, and driveline traction control make for a smooth and steady ride. If you need towing power, never fear because the 2017 Jeep Patriot has a maximum capacity of 907 km (2,000 pounds).
With an excellent starting price of $20,045, you'll be happy to know that the 2017 Jeep Patriot comes with some impressive standard and optional comfort features. All trim levels come with a cloth upholstery, manual exterior mirrors, 60/40-split folding rear seats, Bluetooth connectivity, exterior temperature display, and even a SiriusXM AM/FM/Satellite Seek-Scan radio. To take your luxury to the next level you can also add leather-faced seats, heated front seats, six-CD/DVD changer, a nine-speaker Boston Acoustics system, navigation system, and a U-Connect Hands-Free Bluetooth system.
2017 Mazda CX-5
The 2017 Mazda CX-5 is available in three trim levels (GX, GS, GT) and seven exterior colours. With seating up to five, this SUV comes with a choice of forward or all-wheel drive and a standard SKYACTIV-G 2.5-litre DOHC 16-valve four-cylinder engine that produces 185 horsepower at 3,250 rpm and 185 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,000 rpm. One of the immediate downsides of the 2017 Mazda CX-5 is the much higher starting price of $24,900, without offering more than just a slightly higher standard engine power and roughly the same fuel efficiency and towing capacity. Another drawback is the lack of special off-road features. Other features you might be interested in include a seven-inch colour touchscreen display with Mazda Connect, trip computer, AM/FM/HD radio with four speakers, and LED headlights.
